From January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2011 the following properties sold in the communities of Bokeelia, St. James City, and Matlacha on Pine Island, Florida:
 

93 Water front Single Family Homes sold, median price $240,000.

65 Off water Single Family Homes sold, median price $135,000.

8  Duplexes  sold, median price $95,313.

8 Condominiums sold, median price $202,500.

59 Manufactured homes, median price $85,000.

21 Water front home sites sold, median price $130,000.

46 Off Water home sites sold, median price $15,500.

3 Commercial Properties sold, median $205,000.

A total of 309 properties have sold through the MLS from January 1 - December 31, 2011, with a total volume of $49,055,785.  Of the 236 residential sales, about 10% were foreclosures and 13% were short sales.  (See short sale and foreclosure page for more detail.)

The most popular category of home to sell was a single family, water front canal home (40% of all 2011 residential sales).  The next most  popular type of Pine Island home to sell was an off-water single family home (28% of all 2011 residential sales).  The third most popular type of residential home to sell on Pine Island in 2011 was a manufactured home (25% of all 2011 residential sales.)

The most residential sales, 119, were in Saint James City, Florida, representing 50.4% of all residential sales.  Next was Bokeelia, with 88, or 37.2 % of all residential sales.  Matlacha, being our smallest community, had the fewest sales in 2011, with 29 sales, or 12.4% of all Pine Island, Florida residential sales.
